Leonard Family - Dansco 1 - Large Cents 1793-1857

Category:  Series Sets

Set Description
This is my Large Cent Collection - housed in a Dansco 7099 album. A couple of typo errors in this album need to be addressed. The hole for "1834" is not needed, and the hole marked "1834 Sm 8 & stars, Med letters" should be marked "1834 Lg 8 & stars, Med letters". This custom set reflects these changes.

Set Goals
My goals for this set are:
1. Fill all 97 holes in this album with decently detailed coins.
2. Upgrade, upgrade, upgrade.
Given these goals, this set will never be finished.

United States Philadelphia Early COPPER 1C 1794 HEAD OF 94 Dark brown with rough surfaces from corrosion and partial date showing. Soft details show well on obverse, but reverse is nearly gone with a few light scratches, a planchett void and one rim ding. Edge lettering shows well.
United States Philadelphia Early Copper 1C 1795 PLAIN EDGE Not much left here, but the date is readable and the coin is smooth with nice rims.
Liberty Cap United States Philadelphia Early COPPER 1C 1796 LIBERTY CAP Smooth planchett, nearly full date. Corrosion spot at "LIB" on obverse, and several pock marks on reverse.
Draped Bust United States 1C 1796 DRAPED BUST
United States 1C 1797 PLAIN EDGE
United States Philadelphia Early Copper 1C 1798 This is just a hole filler for now. Pretty good detail, but lots of rim damage & corrosion.
Normal Date United States 1C 1799
United States Philadelphia Early COPPER 1C 1800 Strong obverse lettering & date, slightly more than an outline of the bust. Rims are solid, and the color is tolerable with mild crustiness.
United States Philadelphia Early Copper 1C 1801 Dark Chocolate brown with minor roughness from corrosion. Several light rim bumps show on each side.
United States Philadelphia Early COPPER 1C 1802 Light pinkish brown color from cleaning. Nice detail with nice rims and only a few light hits.
United States Philadelphia Early COPPER 1C 1803 Heavily corroded, but with excellent details. This coin has a large planchett void between 1:00 and 2:00 on the obverse rim.
United States 1C 1804 S-266
United States 1C 1805 Nice looking old Cent, it has some corrosion damage on obverse, but it still has some detail.
United States 1C 1806 S-270
United States Philadelphia Early COPPER 1C 1807 This is the Lg. 7 over 6 variety. Good rims and color. A small area of corrosion shows in the hair below ribbon & ear on the obverse, and several small areas of corrosion on the reverse.
United States Philadelphia Early COPPER 1C 1808 Nice medium brown color, and decent detail. Surfaces are smooth, but lightly corroded with light vertical scratches and a hit at "LI".
United States 1C 1809 S-280
United States Philadelphia Early COPPER 1C 1810 Dark brown with somewhat lumpy surfaces from bad flans and rusty dies. Slightly uneven strike with "STATES OF AMERICA" weak. A few light rim bruises can be seen.
United States 1C 1811 S-287
United States Philadelphia Middle COPPER 1C 1812 This is the "Small date" variety. Nice glossy dark brown surfaces and detail. Multiple heavy rim hits show on both sides.
United States 1C 1813
United States Philadelphia Early COPPER 1C 1814 A little crustiness, but it still has a little bit of detail showing and nice rims.
United States Philadelphia Middle COPPER 1C 1816 This one looks a little better in hand than in the photos. Fairly smooth medium brown surfaces with a little corrosion.
United States Philadelphia Middle COPPER 1C 1817 Very nice milk chocolate color, great details, and problem free.
United States Philadelphia Middle COPPER 1C 1818 This one is dark and has a thin layer of crust. Great detail, and nice rims with only a couple tiny dings.
United States Philadelphia Middle COPPER 1C 1819 Medium brown color with small patches of reddish corrosion on each side. Nice detail with one rim tick on the reverse.
United States Philadelphia Middle COPPER 1C 1820 Beautiful deep brown color, with glossy surfaces. A few tiny ticks on each side, and an old scratch on the obv.
United States Philadelphia Middle COPPER 1C 1821 Very dark brown color, and crusty surfaces with spots of active corrosion. Nice rims.
United States Philadelphia Middle COPPER 1C 1822 Nice medium reddish brown color, good rims, and decent detail. A small patch of corrosion on the lower left obverse.
United States Philadelphia Middle COPPER 1C 1823 N-2 This 1823/2 is real, but the corrosion and reverse damage means it's just a hole filler for now. I will be looking for an upgrade.
Normal Date United States Philadelphia Middle COPPER 1C 1824 Smooth, dark brown surfaces. Very nice rims and fine detail. Obverse has some old scratches.
United States Philadelphia Middle Copper 1C 1825 Beautiful medium to dark chocolate brown surfaces, nice detail, and good rims. What appears to be two planchet voids on the obverse are really punch marks that show on the reverse. A few small spots of corrosion show mostly on the reverse.
Normal Date United States Philadelphia Middle Copper 1C 1826 The surfaces of this coin are nice, but it has a light crust from corrosion on both sides. Dark brown color and excellent detail. Rims are great and show a die crack on the obverse.
United States Philadelphia Middle Copper 1C 1827 Lovely dark brown surfaces, and nearly full details. A few tiny ticks and some lighter colored areas are the only things keeping me from seeing this as a problem free coin.
United States Philadelphia Middle Copper 1C 1828 Smooth chocolate brown color and good rims. Excellent details. I like this one.
View Coin 1829 Large Letters United States Philadelphia Middle COPPER 1C 1829 NGC VF Details VF details - environmental damage
Med. Letters United States Philadelphia Middle Copper 1C 1829 Nice medium brown color and smooth surfaces. Nice rims except someone punched a hole into the right side leaving a bulge that is most noticable on the reverse. The reverse also exhibits what appears to be planchet waviness through "E" of CENT.
Large Letters United States Philadelphia Middle Copper 1C 1830 Nice color and details. This coin may have been burnished.
Med. Letters United States 1C 1830 This one is pretty crusty from corrosion removal, but it still has some detail.
Large Letters United States Philadelphia Middle Copper 1C 1831 Very nearly XF in details. Nice and smooth, medium to dark brown in color. The rims have multiple bumps.
Med. Letters United States Philadelphia Middle COPPER 1C 1831 This one exhibits good color and nearly full details, but micro porousity on both sides. It has great rims but shows some strike weakness on "ONE CENT". This coin has been cleaned, possibly in an attempt to remove corrosion, however, it has begun to retone.
Large Letters United States Philadelphia Middle Copper 1C 1832 Nice medium chocolate brown in color, good surfaces and rims. A few small marks on each side.
Med. Letters United States Philadelphia Late Copper 1C 1832 Very nice, dark brown, smooth surfaces, and great detail.
United States Philadelphia Middle Copper 1C 1833 Light milk chocolate brown color, and hints of luster make this coin choice for the grade. An interesting die crack on the reverse.
Lg. 8, Lg. stars, Lg. ltrs. United States 1C 1834
Lg. 8, Lg. stars, Med. ltrs. United States 1C 1834
Lg. 8, Sm. stars, Med. ltrs. United States 1C 1834 Nice medium brown color with decent rims and details. A few rim bumps show on the obverse, and scattered ticks, mostly on the reverse.
