My fascination with coins started in my early teens. My father collected a bit. Mostly Kennedy's. I bought my first Mercury dimes from a friend of his. Recently I got into collecting heavily. Completed Large Cents, PCGS Ikes, Peace Dollars, Two Cents, Franklin's, Kennedy's, Washingtons, Canadian large cents, and probably a few more.
I have less than 10 to go on my Morgans. I've gotten about all I can on nickle and silver 3 cent pieces. I'm working on half cents and half dimes. Pretty close on Barber/Walking halfs. I have the 1875's Twenty Cent pieces, someday hope to finish with 76's.
I have piles of proof sets starting in the late 50's. Several commemorative sets, a few with the gold coin. And a few small denomination gold eagles from the mint. Very stunning coins.
I'm working on graded Silver Eagles. I have many 70's, but most are 69's. And I just like silver coins. Many extra Morgans, Peace, Franklin's, and others. I also have a fair amount of seated liberty and capped bust half's. A couple of trade dollars.
Just a week ago I got my dream coin, a St. Gauden's Double Eagle!!!! Actually two, both MS64/NGC.
Coin combine history and art for me. I hope to get at least one coin from every series before I'm done, but probably won't get there.
Anyway, it's the most enjoyable hobby I've ever had. And I've enjoyed writing this up, even if no one every reads it. :-)
