Collecting coins started at a young age with this passion been shared with my dad. Been a child I had a lot of world coins and definitely went for quantity and not quality.
After his passing I spent some time away from collecting however with the birth of my child and the coin hunt series starting again that little seed of passion started to grow again.
Having met a couple of seasoned collectors and discussing where to take my collection I’ve set my time and passion to work on mainly GB silver proof coins with the odd proof GB gold coin post decimal as the craftsmanship and elegance of some of these coins is exquisite!!! Having now been collecting for many years I have a fairly good stock of silver proof coins however what they are not is graded which is what I need to get on and do.
As a nod to the past and with both myself and my dad been interested in the history of the U.K. as a dedication to him I’m going to try and collect a reasonable silver coin from every monarch back as far as I can go concentrateing mainly on the portrait.
I have no time limits on my collecting and with the Royal Mint producing ever more coins and increasing their prices every year it will probable never be completed however we shall se where it goes, who knows after the succession of QE2 I might just limit it to every silver proof coin of her reign.
As for where the collection will go? Well who knows my daughter is currently 2 but she’s certainly interested in the coins when I’m observing them so maybe she will carry on my legacy!!!
