Robert McGaughey Jr.'s Bio
My name is Robert and I have been collecting coins since 1999. The state quarters program is what got me interested in collecting coins. I use to be a baseball card collector but the value would only drop and it did not seem like a good investment with positive returns. Once I started collecting proof sets from the mint, I became interested in Morgan dollars. I loved the design and the history behind the coin. In 2003 I began a quest to collect the entire Morgan dollar series in a minimum mint state 60. Needless to say, their are a few coins that will be hard for me to obtain in mint state with my budget. I try to get my two boys into coin collecting. Both of my kids yell, "Coins!!!Coins!!!" then they run over to my night stand and pull out all of my graded coins as well as the proof sets. Maybe some day I can pass my collection down to them and give them a little piece of me. The wife on the other hand, does not take any interest in coin collecting. The last time she got into one of my hobbies, we were spending $100 a day on baseball cards. She just does not want that to happen again but, I told her that coins retain their value better than baseball cards. Well, that me in a nut shell.
