Cook Islands – 2023 Cyber Queen

The 2023 Cook Islands Cyber Queen coin is a 3 oz silver coin that features a "Cyber Queen". The coin is called "Cyber Queen: The Beginning, Ultra High Relief Black Proof". The term Cyberpunk derives from a combination of the words “cybernetics”, the science of replacing human functions with computers and “punk”, the music style. In the 1980s, the genre gained global popularity thanks to William Gibson’s novel Neuromancer and the cult film Blade Runner. Other films such as Robo-Cop and Judge Dredd were released soon after. Finally, The Matrix wound up being the most cyberpunk-influenced and successful film of its era. Cyber Queen The Beginning captures the subculture spirit with its futuristic artwork, high relief strike, vibrant color and black proof finish.

Limited mintage of 999 pieces worldwide.

The obverse of the coin features a woman on a motorbike with a cat near her. In the background, some buildings. The design features details with nuances in the neon color palette, typical of the Cyberpunk culture. Cyberpunk is a science fiction subgenre characterised by anti-heroes fighting against a system or oppressors in a dehumanised, high-tech dystopian future. The obverse also features the inscription: "2023" – the year of issue, located at the bottom of the coin, on the motorbike.

The reverse of the coin features a design with pipes and electrical wires and the neon inscription: "CYBER QUEEN" – the name of the coin. On the right, a blue neon circle with the effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II and the inscriptions: "ELIZABETH II" – the name of the Queen, "20 DOLLARS" – the face value and "COOK ISLANDS" – the country of issue.
