Medal, Plaquette, 1912, Bronze, France. HOMMAGE TO STÉPHANE DERVILLÉ / General De L' Exposition De Turin 1911. Portrait Plaquette by Denys Puech, French Sculptor (1854-1942). Size: 65mm x 90mm. Weight: 212+ Grams. Edge, Bronze. Signature D. Peuch 1912. Obv. Portrait Bust of Stephane Derville looking right, name above; Rv. Fabulous View of the Exposition de Turin in 1911, town floating in the clouds, with Caduceus and torch crossed, various insignias, and inscriptions below, Hommage De Gratitude. Fifteen (15) Line Inscription. Stephane Adolphe Dervillé was famous for quite a lot of reasons, he was a marble quarry owner who produced specialized marble for art works, he was awarded a gold medal in Turin in 1911 for his exhibition of raw materials used in art and architecture, he was chairman of the board of directors for Railways from Paris to Lyon, and deputy director of the world expo in 1900, President of the commercial court of the seine, a diplomat of the French government and more. Medallist: Denys Peuch was an important French sculptor who received many commissions from the French Third Republic, he founded a museum of fine art in Rodez in 1903. Studied with Ernest Keyser and Helen Farnsworth. HIs works are exhibited at the Musée d'Orsay, La Pensée, and the Musée du Petit-Palais. Cf. I-Numis, October 2014, Lot 1640, Realized 180 Euros.
