This Commemorative honors the 275th anniversary of the birth of Crispus Attucks. He was an American slave a merchant seaman and dockworker of Wampanoag and of African decent. He was the first patriot killed in the Boston Massacre that occured in 1770. This was one of the events that led up to the Revolutionary War. Although the extent of his participation in the events that led to the massacre is unclear, in the 18th century he became an icon of the anti slavery movement.
