Owner Comments:

I had been searching for a nice attractive example with full steps for approx. 2 years when this one came up for sale. It is not that they don't come up for sale that often but that nicely toned examples went for way more money than I felt comfortable spending. Eureka, today July 5, 2012, my patience paid off, I received a beautiful speciman from erwindoc here on the boards. He had posted that he had made an MS67 5FS 1942D from an album collection he had picked up and I contacted him to see if it would be available. It was and now it has a new home.

This coin has an absolutely beautiful red -gold tone on the obverse devices with just the slightest hint of green in the fields. There are 2 minor hits in the hair that offer no distractions and just faint planchet roughness on the jawline as is usually the case with the Jefferson series. The reverse is almost identical in tone to the obverse with no distractions noticed with the naked eye. There is one hit on column 3 that is visible under 17X magnification. The steps are very strong with the count being 6-5-5-6 by my eye using the quarterstep method.

Thank you Jason for this wonderful addition to my collection.
