Owner Comments:

O.106 R2. Comet Head Variety that later becomes the single leaf variety after further die deterioration. Stunning orginal! Booming luster! looks Eliasberg? Per Heritage cataloger, "The Autumn 2011 update to Stephen J. Herrman's Auction & Mail Bid Prices Realized for Bust Half Dollars lists only a handful of high-grade results from 1991 to the present, but this Gem will fit in comfortably beside the former Eliasberg coin and other pieces ranging from certified MS63 to MS66 in the next edition. Rose-tinged gray interiors are warmly lustrous, while the margins, including the "Comet" area at the back of Liberty's head, are more antique-gold and burnt-orange. Excellent detail is the final component of the coin's elegant eye appeal." Obtained from Heritage Galleries Auction #1162 on 12/8/2011, Lot 3563.
