The Seated Liberty Half dollar seems like one of the easiest of all Seated Liberty denominations to obtain. With just slightly over one hundred graded by NGC, it is only moderately difficult to obtain an attractive example. As expected, the late 1870’s and 1880’s are the most common.
My example is a superb coin from the Dick Osburn collection. Dick is a well known dealer and collector, specializing in coins of the Seated Liberty era. This coin possesses strong mirrors which highlight the superb rainbow album toning on both sides. The strike is very strong, although definitely a business strike. I’m not sure what is keeping this coin at a 64, because the mark free surfaces are absolutely pristine. I bought my Seated dime to match this coin, and together they make a terrific pair.
