Owner Comments:
INITIAL ACQUISITION: Bought raw, in 2009, amidst a large dealer lot of 2x2's (nickels and cents, all modern Jeffersons and Memorials).
SLABBING: Graded and slabbed in 2010.
OBVERSE: Gorgeous blue toning, typically indicative of long-term housing in an original bank wrap. Later OBW's would have too much PVC in the paper, but the blue or gray wrappers from the 1950's into the 1970's were wonderful for OBW nickel toning. Unlike golden (bag) toning, this blue toning usually helps a strike seem sharper.
REVERSE: Not full steps.
OTHER COMMENT: I knew this coin would not grade FS, and I knew it wouldn't earn an MS67, but I felt its beauty deserved to live in a slab, where it would be better conserved and appreciated.
