This coin celebrates Lincoln’s birth and childhood in Kentucky (1809-1816). Abraham Lincoln was born on February 12, 1809 in a log cabin similar to the one on this penny on his family's farm - -Testament to his humble beginnings.

It is composed of 97.5% zinc, 2.5% copper (More specifically: Core - 99.2% zinc, 0.8% copper; Plating - pure copper).
