Second in the Branches of Government series from the US Mint, featuring the Executive Branch, this was a find! I managed to get it on the Mint's web site when I was shopping for something else, and when the Mint had it at 2007 prices (around $1,749) when Platinum at the time was over $2,500 per ounce. Within a week, the Mint increased the price on the coin by over $200, and within a week after that, FROZE the sales of noble metals because the prices were soaring too high. This coin earned a handsome PF70 Ultra Cameo from NGC, and is such a limited edition from a limited series, it is sure to be a great collector's item!

In 2006, the United States Mint embarked on a new, three-year series titled The Foundations of American Democracy. Each year, beginning in 2006, the reverse design will feature an image emblematic of one of the three institutional foundations of our American democracy – the Legislative,the Executive and the Judicial branches.
The new series of designs was launched in the order the branches of government appear in the U.S. Constitution.
In 2007, The reverse features the second design in the series – representing the Executive Branch and depicts a bald eagle with its wings spread wide to represent freedom with a shield at the ready to enforce the laws that guarantee those freedoms. The 2007 reverse design was created by United States Mint Artistic Infusion Program Master Designer Thomas Cleveland and engraved by United States Mint Sculptor/Engraver Phebe Hemphill.
Each 2007 American Eagle Platinum Proof Coin contains 99.95 percent pure platinum and is packaged in a blue velvet, satin-lined presentation case and accompanied by a custom-designed Certificate of Authenticity signed by the Director of the United States Mint.
