Central States, May 2007---------------------------------------1951-S 50C Washington-Carver MS67 NGC. In addition to the oft-cited omission of Delaware from the map, no border appears between Maryland and West Virginia. These inaccuracies are unlikely to subdue a numismatist's appreciation of this exquisitely preserved piece. Soft gold, peach, and blue-green patina graces both sides of this lovely coin, one that exhibits frosty, powerful luster beneath the toning. The only one of nine pieces graded MS67 by NGC to receive the Star designation, with no Superb Gems graded by PCGS (4/07).From The Cary & Cheryl Porter Collection.
