Can you imagine the expression on Charles Barbers face when Teddy Roosevelt told him he HAD to make this coin?! As Roosevelt put it: "I direct that Mr. Barber have the dies made as Saint-Gaudens, with my authority, presents them"-TR. It is literally a coin that jumps off it's planchet. This is a stunning example in MS63. Surfaces are brilliant and unmarred. This example is quite clean and reflects all the detail of the intended design. Of all of my Saints, this is the only one I would say is likely undergraded.
