Well, this is the first in a line of certification disappointments. I bought this coin as an NECA certified MS64 RD about 8 years ago on ebay. Whether the coin “browned up a bit” or I was inexperienced in my purchase (probably the latter), I have now had another lesson in coin grading. The coin is still very beautiful to my eyes and seems very red to me. It’s quite possible my coin was just shy of a RD designation for NGC. Ah well, I’m still happy to have the piece in my Type Collection!
