Owner Comments:

NGC graded MS 64 BN, CAC approved.
Variety: N-10, LDS

This coin has very nice luster, and only a few, subtle spots on the reverse. My photograph of this coin exaggerates the flaws greatly. In hand, the coin is actually very attractive, and of high quality for the grade as attested by the CAC sticker.

I obtained this coin at auction in March 2006 at a Baltimore show. There is nothing really special about the coin. It is most likely from the Randall Hoard, as this variety and die state were common in that group of cents. Nevertheless, it is a nice example.

The ANR catalog description for this coin says:

1818 N-10. Rarity-1. MS-64 BN (NGC).
Impressively strong cartwheel lustre encircles golden brown surfaces, with pleasing olive highlights blended in and a few traces of mint red. Some kegmarks are noted, including one on Liberty's chin, but there are nowhere near as many flyspecks or spots as on most of the red and brown survivors of this Randall Hoard variety. A piece of hand-selected quality, ideal for a Mint State type set.
