Though not lowest in grade population, this was the most elusive of the proof issues. Sure, it could be had for silly money, but where's the fun in that? Consequently, completing the Modern Half Dollar Commemorative collection with this gem was especially gratifying, not only because it was a long time coming, but more importantly because I love the design. The sense of motion in the swimmer and water combine with the stylized Olympic torch and Centennial logo on the reverse to create what for me is a virtually perfect realization of the Olympic spirit in numismatic form.
