In the United States in 1831/ March 19, City Bank of New York is the site of the first bank robbery in United States history ($245,000 taken)./ August 21 , Outbreak of Nat Turner's slave rebellion in Southampton County, Virginia. Approximately 55 whites were stabbed, shot and clubbed to death. November 5, Nat Turner was tried, convicted, and sentenced to death. He was hanged and skinned on November 11.
