Owner Comments:
NGC Top Pop coin and one of the major "keys" to the series. With a population of only 9 NGC coins in MS66, this coin is so conditionally rare in MS66 we jumped at the chance to acquire it. This specimen is the first and only NGC MS66 1928 Peace Dollar to ever become available on the open auction market in recent years. As a matter of fact, based on historical Auction Records, this is the only MS66 NGC 28P ever auctioned. PCGS population of this coin is 18 with one 66+ coin, and only 8 of those coins have ever been auctioned. So regarding auction history, only nine MS66 28P Peace Dollars have ever been hammered during the entire available auction history! The Rosy surface toning adorned with wisps of chocolatey rim toning on this coin only serve to attest to its originality. This Coin was Pedigreed to the Pamela Henard Peace Dollar Collection in 2018.
Mark Salzberg, NGC Chairman and Grading Finalizer:
This is one of the keys to the series. 1928-(P) is valuable in circulated condition, let alone MS 66. This example is toned, and I’d say it’s as good as you’re going to find. It has a great strike and is completely original — a very tough coin so nice.
