This Small Date variety with Crosslet 4 in the date is considered the rarest of the quarter eagles minted in Charlotte. It is also nearly impossible to find a relatively unmarked mint state example - the top grade is a sole MS62 at each service. This late die state example, with diagonal die crack at liberty's bust, has fairly deep luster and grade consistent marks (most notable on the reverse above the arrowheads). This coin has particularly nice eye appeal for an MS60.
