Mintage 320,000 and the premier issue from the newly opened Denver mint. Liberty half eagles were only struck for two years in Denver making this a popular issue with collectors. One of 24 coins that were very instrumental in my decision to start putting together a set of Liberty half eagles. It was one coin in a Capital Plastics holder containing “the last 24” coins in the series (1997 through 1908). It made me think, hum, what would it take to obtain the previous 24 coins? That goal was accomplished 37 years later when I purchased my 1892-O in 2012. Purchased in early 1975 from Dave Bates, Rochester, NY.
