Colorful is the only way to describe this first year issue. The coin is sharply struck as many were for a first year and of course many were saved but still the coin is in demand as both a type piece and the beginning of this particular set. The quarter features pale goldenrod on the left side of the obverse transitioning to a pinkish-red across the entirety of the obverse, the toning isn't limited to small areas, probably the end result of several years in an envelope. The reverse of the coin shows some of the same colors, but not quite as bold near the center of the coin, more peripheral toning. I had to haggle to get this one, but I think it was well worth it.
