This year was a year for only one commemorative issue. This Silver Dollar was issued to commemorate the centennial of Dwight D. Eisenhower's birth, which is on October 14, 1890. He receives an honor as both a five star General, and a U.S. President until the Five Star Generals coin came out in 2013, his was the only to feature two images of the same person.
The obverse was done by John Mercanti, and the reverse by Marcel Jovine.
The uncirculated coin was produced by the West Point Mint, and the Proof at Philadelphia.
