A gorgeous coin with blue peripheral toning towards the top on the obverse and light cameo contrast. 1881 is a scarce year given that business strike coins had a mintage of 24,000 while the proofs had a mintage of just 975. Of that amount, it is estimated that only 750 proof coins survived, this being one of them.
