Seller description:
An Impressive High-Grade Example. 1882-O/S $1 Broken MS65 NGC. VAM-5. A Top 100 Variety. This famous overmintmark variety rates its own listing in the Guide Book, and its own chapter in Dave Bowers Guide Book of Morgan Silver Dollars. Bowers states elsewhere that: The 1882-O/S is very scarce in lower Mint State grades, scarcest in MS64, and very rare in MS65. This Gem example is well-struck and highly lustrous, with light, attractive russet, gold, and olive peripheral toning on both sides. A few wispy marks, well within the context of the grade, keep it from an even finer rating. From the M L Moser Collection, former #1 NGC Morgan Dollar Registry Set. (PCGS# 87138)
