Pleasing and Impressive. The Top-Graded Example. 1904 $1 NGC MS66+. Census: 1 in 66+, 0 finer (3/14). In terms of production quality, the 1904 issue is not favorably rated by either Wayne Miller or Dave Bowers, both of whom regard it as inferior. However, this Premium Gem example is finer than those usually encountered. The striking quality is sharp and the eye appeal of the piece is pleasing. Satiny and well-preserved, with faint amounts of gold-tan peripheral toning, this coin is understandably ranked as one of the top coins currently known to NGC and PCGS.
