Owner Comments:
The 1949 San Francisco minted Roosevelt is generally considered the key date among the series. It had a mintage of 13.5 million, the lowest among the 1946 -1964 silver Roosevelt dime series. PCGS estimates that less than a half million survive in mint state condition and much less with full torch strike. Graded MS 65 or higher, PCGS estimates that only 10,000 1949-S Roosevelts have full torch strikes.
The 1949-S here is one of my favorite coins in the collection. It has a beautiful rainbow-colored tone around the perimeter on both sides. It has a great strike and fine details on both sides. Most of the torch lines are clear and defined, however most of the lower band line is not present at all.
The coin is free of any major contact marks or scuffs and is appropriately graded at MS 67. Overall, this is an extremely nice coin to have in the collection. One of my absolute favorites. I got this dime from Six Mile Rick. Thanks Rick.
