Purchased on 1/9/2015 at Winter FUN 2015 (Orlando, FL). Silver mule proof striking, mintage of 5 pieces. --------------------------- FROM: Stack's Bowers - The September 2013 Philadelphia Americana Sale Lot #10621 (1860s) Henry Clay. DeWitt-HC-A(1). Silver. 28 mm. MS-66 (NGC). Beautifully toned surfaces are awash in a blend of iridescent steel gray and golden-copper. Appreciably reflective in the fields, both sides are also exhibit richly frosted devices that provide significant cameo-like contrast to the finish. Only five Proof sets of this Lovett series were struck in silver, and individual survivors are understandably rare. Pedigree: From the John J. Ford, Jr. Collection. Earlier ex: Wayte Raymond; F.C.C. Boyd estate. Paper envelope with attribution notation included.
