Owner's Description

Medal, 1958, AR, MINNESOTA CENTENNIAL / NORTHWEST COIN CLUB MINEAPOLIS, ST. PAUL, United States, So Called Dollar, HK-UNL (518A Variant), NGC MS64, Cert# 3572532-003. Obv. 1858/1958. Purpose was to celebrate 100 year anniversary of statehood. While there was no official medal, there was an Offical Emblem, which is the obverse design: Arcs around entire border, enclosing design of four unequal segments, upper left and lower right are frosty, other two are bright; Upper two Minnesota Centennial, lower dates 1858 and 1958. Central design is that of two heads, back to back, female to left, male to right, below two outstretched hands holding items representing agriculture, industry, forests and ore. Originally struck as trial pieces, uniface, to interest cities, counties, merchants and others to use reverse for individualized purposes. This example contains an Ornate Viking Ship, "NORTHWEST COIN CLUB / FOUNDED / 1934 / MINNEAPOLIS - ST. PAUL MINNESOTA CENTENNIAL / (Logo) / 1858 1958 (Antiqued Silver Metal).
