Owner's Description

Mintage: Estimated to be 300 pieces. Tied for the Finest Known. This coin, referenced in Krause, was produced by the
Mexican Mint as a specimen re-strike in 1996. The original dies were re-tooled
for this purpose and the coin has a beautiful satin matte finish which clearly
distinguishes it from the earlier re-strikes of 1949 through 1972. This coin
was acquired through private purchase and has the same pristine surfaces as
seen on the other two examples residing here in the Challenger Collection.
