Owner's Description

Mintage: Estimated to be 300 pieces. Tied for the Finest Known. This coin, referenced in Krause, was produced by the
Mexican Mint as a specimen re-strike in 1996. The original dies were re-tooled
for this purpose and the coin has a beautiful satin matte finish which clearly
distinguishes it from the earlier re-strikes of 1949 through 1972. This coin
was acquired through the Heritage September 2006 Long Beach CA Signature World
Coin Auction #419, Lot 52299. The Heritage catalog comments are “The surfaces
of this coin are perfect and the luster a satiny glow.”
