United States Modern Commemorative Coinage Gold Half Eagle I don’t know if we can really call this a commemorative because it is for the proposed Visitor Center to the U.S. Capitol. Can you commemorate something that does not yet exist? 2001-W MS-69 Census - 1,950 NGC graded coins - 874 with this grade - 1,074 graded higher The obverse of the Capitol Visitor Center $5 Gold depicts the top of a Corinthian column. Inscriptions read "Liberty", "1800", "First Convening of Congress in Washington", "In God We Trust", and the date. The reverse features a view of he 1800 Capitol with inscriptions "United States of America", "E Pluribus Unum", and the denomination "Five Dollars".
