Owner's Description

The San Francisco mint struck more than 15 million double eagles during the "Roarin' Twenties," but apparently only a tiny fraction of this production ever escaped Treasury vaults. The 1926-S is scarce in Mint State, and a great rarity in circulated grades. The present honey-gold representative is somewhat bright with yellow-gold centers and rich orange-gold peripheries, but is free from any noticeable bagmarks. Slight softness of strike is noted around the margins
