Owner's Description

Although the Krause guide lists the 1777 FF variety at the same price as the FM, the FF has not appeared very often for sale in 2010-2012. This year marks the transition of assayers at the Mexico City mint -- the initials F.F. are those of assayers Francisco de la Peña and Francisco Arance Cobos who would continue in this capacity until 1784. This coin was purchased raw from Civitas Galleries in February of 2011.
