Owner's Description

This is a very nice original Charlotte piece with perfect golden orange color and decent luster. The reverse looks a lot like the reverse of the 1859 Charlotte issue which makes you wonder if the steel used in the hub that is used to sink the dies was the culprit for these two years. What doesn't make sense is that the same weakness doesn't show up on Philly issues, so this will remain a mystery if and until some researcher stumbles upon some kind of evidence to tell us the whole story. The way new records are being found these days, we may just find out afterall.
