Owner's Description

Highly lustrous, with alluring rose-gold coloration, and scattered minor blemishes. The obverse stars are softly struck, but most of the other design elements are boldly reproduced. Despite a mintage of nearly 294,000 pieces, the 1888-S half eagle is scarce in Mint State, and none have been graded above MS63 by either of the major services. Doug Winter; ex: Heritage 9/07: 3469.
