Owner's Description

The 1894 is a fairly common date but is scarce in gem; there are only two coins graded higher (an NGC 66 and a PCGS 67). This date does not generally “come nice”. This is the third MS65 that I’ve owned, trying to find an example with acceptable luster for the grade. The current example has a muted satin luster and is sunset gold in color. As with most Philadelphia issues from this era, the strike is strong. Superior 5/06: 1151.
