Owner's Description

This Commemorative was issued to commemorate the 50th anniversary of his appearance in the majors as a black player. 1919-1972, He played all 10 yrs. of his career with the Dodgers. He finished his career with a .311 batting average, and was famous as well for his base stealing. 1947 he won rookie of the yr. 1949 was most valuable player. He starred in four major sports at UCLA.

Jackie Robinson's older brother Mack finished second to Jesse Owens in the 100-meter race in the 1936 Berlin Olympics.
