Owner's Description

The National Law Enforcement officers Memorial is in Washington DC. The national memorial fund was established by former US Representative Mario Biaggi, a 23 yr. New York City cop who was wounded in the line of duty more than 10 times before retiring in 1965.
Donald Guifoil a detective initiated the federal legislation to establish the memorial and Biaggi joined forces with US Senator Claiborne Pell D. Rhode Island to help establish it.
This coin was issued for the sixth anniversary of the dedication of the memorial. This memorial honors over 14,000 men and women who lost their lives as a result of their duty. Philadelphia was the Mint for both the proof and uncirculated versions. The mint offered the coins individually or with a special insignia set, that had the silver dollar a pin for the lapel, and a patch.
