Owner's Description

Thomas Alva Edison February 11, 1847 to October 18, 1931. Was an avid American inventor and Businessman. He developed many devices that greatly influenced life around the world. Some of his inventions, other than the electric light were the phonograph, motion picture camera. He was an inventor who believed in and practiced the principles of mass production.
Edison is the fourth most prolific inventor in history, holding 1,093 US patents in his name. and many more in the United Kingdom, France and Germany

The 2004 Thomas Edison Silver Dollar was issued to mark the 125th anniversary of the invention of the electric light bulb. This happened on October 21, 1879.
The obverse shows a portrait of Thomas Edison from the waist up holding a light bulb. The reverse shows an image of a light bulb first designed by Edison. Above it reads "125th Anniversary of the Light Bulb".
