Owner's Description

December 17, 1903 Orville made the first flight and covered 120 feet. Wilbur flew next and covered 175 feet, and the third flight that days was Orville attaining 200 feet in distance.
NOW YOU KNOW!! Orville and Wilbur never married, and their father was a bishop in the Church of the United Brethren in Christ.
They had five other siblings, two sisters which were twins died in infancy.
On May 25, 1910 Orville piloted two unique flights. First he took off on a six minute flight with Wilbur as his passenger, THE ONLY TIME THE WRIGHT BROTHERS EVER FLEW TOGETHER. Then Orville took his 82 year old father on a seven minute flight. The only one in his fathers life.

The 2003 First Flight Commemorative Silver Dollar was issued to celebrate the centennial of the first powered manned flight. The obverse has portraits of Orville and Wilbur Wright. The design is by T. James Ferrel.
The reverse has an image of the 1903 flyer in flight above the dunes at Kill Devil Hill. The design is by Norman E. Nemeth.
