Owner's Description

The 200th anniversary of the founding of the Library of Congress was the reason the US Mint issued it's 2000 Commemorative Silver Dollar. This coin program also included the gold and platinum bimetal coinage, which commands much higher interest and premiums than the silver dollar.
The obverse shows two books, one open over the other with the torch of learning in the background.
The reverse shows the dome of the Library of Congress Jefferson Building. Which is a skylight above the main reading room.
The Library of Congress Silver Dollars were struck in Philadelphia, and do carry the "P" mintmark. They were sold in proof and uncirculated versions, as well individually.
Mintage: 53,264. Population: 696. NGC Universal ID: 28V3. Catalog #KM-311. Pre-issue Price: $25.00. Regular Price: $27.00
