Owner's Description

The United States Military Academy at West Point is a four year coeducational federal service academy located in West Point, New York. The Academy sits on scenic high ground overlooking the Hudson River. It is 50 north of New York City.
FAST FACT: The candidates for admission must both apply directly to the Academy and receive a nomination, this from a Senator or Representative. Approximately 1,300 cadets are admitted each year, with about 1,000 graduating each year.

2002 West Point Silver Dollar was issued for the 200th anniversary of the founding of the United States Military Academy. It was authorized by President Thomas Jefferson on March 16,1802.
The obverse is the Academy Color Guard in full parade, designed by T. James Ferrell.
The reverse designed by John Mercanti features the West Point Bicentennial logo. The logo is a representation of a helmet and a sword.
