Owner's Description

Mintage: 144,748. Population: 1955. Pre-issue Price: $33.00. Regular Price: $37.00. Catalog #KM-313. NGC Universal ID: 28V2.
The Philadelphia Mint struck both the proof and uncirculated coins for the 2000 Leif Ericson Commemorative Silver Dollar and carried the "P" mintmark. The Icelandic version which was produced with cooperation of the U.S. Mint did not sport a mintmark.
The American version of the coin was sold individually and the Icelandic sold only in proof. There was a two coin proof set offered with iether version of the coins. A surcharge added to the price of the coins went to the Leifur Eiriksson Foundation to fund exchange programs between the two countries.
