Owner's Description

Jamestown was a settlement in the Colony of Virginia, the first permanent English settlement in the Americas. Established by the Virginia Company of London as "James Fort" on May 24, 1607, and considered permanent after a brief abandonment in 1610, it followed several earlier failed attempts, including the Lost Colony of Roanoke.
YES IT'S TRUE: In May, 2007, Queen Elizabeth II of the United Kingdom and Prince Philip attended a ceremony commemorating the 400th anniversary of the settlement's arrival.

The 400th anniversary of Jamestown was also the subject of the Virginia State Quarter. It too featured three ships and carried the dates of 1607-2007 commemorating the 400th anniversary.Philadelphia mint produced both the proof and uncirculated versions of the coin. The 2007 American Legacy Set carried the proof version of the coin also.
