There was criticism on this coin by many who thought there should not have been a female included. The design was specifically wanted by the Boy Scouts of America to show diversity and show how the nation and the Scouts had evolved over the yrs. The coin was issued in proof and uncirculated and were minted at the Philadelphia Mint.
There was introductory pricing prior to the April 21, 2010, then regular prices became effective. The 2010 Boy Scouts Silver Dollar was a success as it completely sold out of its maximum mintage of 350,000 acoss all options.
"FAST FACT". I came from the farm, but our small community had Scouting, I was a Cub Scout, but our pack had to disolve due to the youth being unable to always attend. This was entirely due to the kids were needed on the farm.
The $10 surcharge was paid to the Boy Scouts of America and were used by local councils for the extension of funding to hard to serve areas. Like where I am from.
