Owner's Description

The 2011 Medal of Honor Silver Dollar Commemorative was issued to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the establishment of the highest award for valor in action against an enemy force and recognize it's recipients.
One of the goals of the commemorative coins is to promote awareness of how ordinary Americans can challenge fate and change the course of history through courage, sacrifice, selfless service and patriotism. The obverse of the coin is the three Medals of Honor from the Army, Air Force and Navy. Jim Licaretz was the designer of the obverse.
The reverse shows a soldier carrying a wounded soldier to safety. The reverse was designed by Richard Masters.
