Owner's Description

1996 was avery busy year for the US Mint. It produced millions of 1995 and 1996 coins for the Atlanta Summer Games. In all there were 9 different Silver Dollars Struck. The 1995 coins were: Gymnastics, Track & Field, Cycling, Paralympics, Special Olympics. The 1996 consisted of: Tennis, Rowing, High Jump, and another Paralympics coin. Mintages especially in the uncirculated were very low.

The obverse of the commemorative silver dollar shows a woman playing tennis about to hit the ball. The obverse was deigned by James C. Sharpe. The reverse is impressionistic Olympic torch.
