Owner's Description

Track and field is a sport comprising of various athletic contests based on running, jumping, and throwing. The standard venue is a stadium with and oval track for the running events, and an inner central area for the jumping and throwing events.
The first Olympic Games were held in 776 BC in Olympia, Greece.

The 1995 Olympic Track and Field Silver Dollar was part of a two year program of sixteen coins. Included were 8 silver dollar, 4 clad 50c, and 4 $5 gold coins. The obverse was designed by John Mercanti and symbolized runners at the finishing line.
The reverse featured the Olympic flame below which showed two clasped hands to show team spirit. This was designed by William Krawczwicz.
